Sloam Demo: Movement Edition!
Hello!
Thankyou for coming by, I have updated Sloam with the goal of getting feedback on the movement!
It has been a while and the demo was very bare-bones, but I will try my best to summarize what’s new:
- Run, slide, jump and double jump mechanics have been added
- The player now has animations and some VFX for more impactful movement
- Very basic sound effects are now in the game
- Functional UI, don’t worry too much about the design, I will be focusing on this when I get to polishing things!
- There’s a new town area for more situational platforming
- Clothing and hair (The start of a character customization system which isn’t in quite yet!)
- A settings menu
It’s been forever since the last update but I made it! ; -o-)/
Working on Sloam has been delightful and I can’t wait to add in more and more of the planned core systems. There are many more things in the works, such as the long-awaited fishing systems, character customization and NPC interactions.
While I wanted to get as much as possible into this demo, I recognize how important it is to get feedback on things as early as possible.
Thank you for checking this humble beginning out, I will post updates on Bluesky, so keep an eye out there for when the next demo will be around. If you want to see what development of Sloam looks like come on by the Twitch stream, where I stream game development and a variety of other games from time to time.
Happy moving,
